A subsection of Bluffview is Briarwood, which is bounded by Lovers Lane to the south, Inwood to the east, Horseshoe Trail and Briarwood Place to the north and Elsby Avenue on the west. The neighborhood was established in the late 1930’s by the Elsby family on the site of the former Bluffview Dairy. The earliest homes were built in 1935 with a real surge in development after World War II. Back then, Bungalows and cottages were popular. Fortunately, many of those charming homes still grace the tree lined streets.

Briarwood is within walking distance to Inwood Village and Pavilion on Lovers Lane, a charming collection of fine restaurants, boutiques and services. The quaint Inwood Theater is a landmark not to be missed, also numerous service shops, spas, food markets and delicatessens.
Things To Do
Briarwood is well situated to numerous entertainment and cultural venues. Attend a live performance at the Dallas Children’s Theater, or visit the Dallas Museum of Art, Winspear Opera Theater, Perot science Museum or The Children's Aquarium at Fair Park. There is also Bluffview Park, a 2.6-acre neighborhood park, established in 1945, and managed by the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department. It features benches, an outdoor basketball court, picnic tables,a playground, a soccer field and drinking fountains. Located adjacent to Bluffview Park is Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy.
Schools
The Dallas Independent School District serves the community of Briarwood. Many top-rated private schools are in close proximity. Bluffview is in the Dallas County Community College District, which offers academic, continuing education and adult education programs through seven community colleges and 14 campuses in the Dallas County.
